GMDSS Modernization

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has agreed to modernize the GMDSS by including L-band connectivity in order to further develop its satellite-based emergency programs.

This is necessary in order to take advantage of significant advances in satellite infrastructure and maritime software/hardware.
